JOIN US for the ultimate off-the-beaten-path adventure, where you will have the rare opportunity to dive with the world’s largest snake - the green anaconda.

The Bonito area in Brazil, is the only place on the planet where you’ll have the chance to encounter 5 meter long snakes underwater.

Here the giant snakes bask along the river's edge, surrounded by the crystal-clear waters of Bonito.

Normally when wild anacondas are spotted basking by the river, they disappear underwater to hide.

Thanks to Hollywood movies, these snakes have a fierce reputation.

The truth is… these snakes are very shy, slow moving and prefer hiding in the watery shadows of the river’s edge.

This adventure allows you to jump in the water and experience face-to-face encounters with these ancient predators.

Capture unique and exciting images of this iconic predator.

You will also get to experience the incredible biodiversity that the Bonito area is famous for.

As we explore the Pantanal Wetlands, looking for snakes, you may also see - caiman, tapirs, rheas, capybaras, capuchin monkeys, and the iconic giant anteater.

TRIP ITINERARY

Day 1
ARRIVAL DAY
Arrival in Campo Grande Airport (CGR). We will pick you up in a private van at the airport and drive you to Bonito (approx. 4 hours travel time). If you arrive a day earlier, we will pick you up from your hotel.

  • We arrive at Bonito in the afternoon and check-in at Pousada Olho d’Água.

  • In the evening (6PM) we will get together for a meeting to discuss the plans for the trip. After our meeting we will have dinner.

Day 2  - 6
WILDLIFE DAYS (5 Days)
 Early morning starts. Breakfast begins at 6:30AM (included) at our hotel. We recommend waking up early and walking around the hotel grounds for photo opportunities. Toucans can be seen at the bird feeders, capuchin monkeys feeding on the palm nuts.

8AM - Our van will pick us up and drive us to the dive center for any dive gear needed for the week and drive to one of the rivers we will spend the day at.

- Once we are at the river, we will board our boat and begin searching for anacondas and other interesting wildlife; such as river otters, capybaras, or caiman. This activity includes scuba diving/snorkeling (dependent on how deep the animals are). Water depths may vary up to 1 to 4 meters deep. 

DAY 7
DEPARTURE DAY
We return you to Campo Grande Airport (CGR), for your journey home. Please book return flights for after 2PM

OUR ACCOMODATIONS

  • The Pousada Olho d’Água Eco-Lodge is a nature lover's paradise, situated on the outskirts of Bonito and surrounded by a pristine forest that offers excellent opportunities for wildlife viewing.

    At the lodge, you'll have WiFi, comfortable rooms with air conditioning, and a small fridge to keep your refreshments cool.

    The best part is that even within the lodge grounds, you'll have the chance to enjoy and photograph wildlife up close.

    Keep your camera ready, as you might be treated to the sight of hooded capuchin monkeys feasting on the nuts of the Acuri palms or playfully stealing fruit from the bird feeders.

    Among the feathered guests, the Toco Toucans and plush-crested jays are the star attractions, captivating you with their vibrant colors and captivating behaviors.

    Giant anteaters and tapirs have been known to forage on the lodge's property at night, providing you with an unforgettable opportunity to witness these magnificent animals on your front porch.

  • ARRIVAL DAY:
    We will greet you between 10 - 11 AM outside Campo Grande Airport (CGR).

    You may need to fly into Campo Grande the day before to ensure you will meet our departure time schedule.

    The driving from Campo Grande to Bonito will take around 3 1/2 to 4 hours via private van.

  • This experience offers both snorkeling and minimal scuba diving.

    Scuba diving is utilized when the snakes are deep or hidden in the river's undergrowth.

    We suggest bringing your own mask and snorkel, along with short snorkel fins.

    Our provider will furnish the necessary dive gear for the expedition.

  • Please note that these expeditions involve wild animal encounters, and while there is never any guarantee of sighting wildlife, we strategically plan our visits during the best times of the year for the greatest chances of success.

    We want to highlight that touching wildlife is strictly NOT permitted.

    Every encounter is unique, and the duration is solely at the discretion of the animals.

    Participants caught manhandling wildlife may be asked to leave the water or the area.

    It's essential to maintain a safe distance and show utmost respect towards wildlife.

    We know there's never a certainty, but during our expeditions, we've had a remarkable record. We've encountered anacondas on all of the trips we've run, making this an exceptional opportunity to witness these magnificent creatures in their natural habitat.

    PLEASE NOTE: We limit our time with the snakes. If the animal is showing signs of stress, we will leave the animal alone and go find other wildlife to encounter.

    We appreciate your understanding and cooperation in preserving the beauty of the wildlife and their environment.

  • Solo Travelers signing up for land-based trips individually will be charged the single occupancy rate.

    To help keep costs down, you have the option to inform us if you would like to share a room with another solo guest of the same sex.

    We'll make every effort to find you a roommate. However, if no one else wishes to share, you will be charged for a single room.

  • A non-refundable deposit of $3000 USD is required to reserve a space on our anaconda expedition. 


    50% of the expedition cost (balance) is due 180 days prior to departure.


    100% of the expedition cost (balance) is due 90 days prior to departure.


    A 4% surcharge is applied to payments made via credit card.


    A 3% paypal surcharge is applied to payments made using paypal.


    Payments can also be made via wire transfer. Just let us know and we will send you the bank transfer info.

  • All cancellations made more than 120 days prior to departure will receive refund (less an administrative fee of $800 USD per person). This fee is non-refundable and non-transferable. However, if we manage to fill the trip after you cancel, we will apply the deposit towards any of our trips that you sign up for, during the following 12 months. If you cancel again during that period, you will lose the deposit.


    Cancellations made (91 to 120), calendar days prior to departure, are assessed a cancellation fee of 50% of the entire trip price, (including extensions).


    Cancellations made within 90 days of departure date will not be refunded, therefore we strongly recommend all guest purchase travel insurance.


    All cancellations must be made in writing by mail or by email to sdm@sharkdivermag.com, - received and acknowledged by SDM Adventures.


    We are not responsible for cancellations due to medical or other reasons.


    No fees will be refunded if you withdraw after an expedition begins.


    We are not responsible for any fees associated with non-refundable air travel, we highly recommend the purchase of travel insurance.
